Plastic Jesus Wall Stolen from Fame Yard

It seems someone went through a lot of trouble to get his hands on a Plastic Jesus last night during the art show that was happening just down the block.  The wall, which had been up only a few weeks, was bolted securely into an iron fence in the Fame Yard just outside of Ethos Gallery on Melrose.

The Plastic Jesus art show was happening just a few blocks away at the Jarritos Pop Up Gallery while this seemingly well organized heist was taking place.

Taking street art has become a controversial subject.  Art that has been left intentionally for people to enjoy around the neighborhood will eventually disappear.  There are several people on the hunt for such gems, the idea behind it being if they don't take it...someone will.

But I must say it crosses the line when it becomes a premeditated and organized plan to remove art with power tools knowing the artist, the fans, and the gallery are all preoccupied for the night.

I suppose if you want a Plastic Jesus THAT bad, you've earned it.

OG SLICK GOES QUICK

These mini originals by Slick are already sold out along with almost everything else he created for the "Little Things" art show at Ethos.  LA art lovers love Slick and give him the utmost respect for his artistic style as well as his deep roots in graffiti.  One of the original "Kings of LA", Slick was there from the start...thus the very appropriate and well deserved title "OG".  His current company "DISSIZIT" is a successful clothing and lifestyle brand created by Slick and continues to embody Los Angeles graffiti culture.  Most recently known for his LA Mickey Mouse hands, he continues to be one of the most sought after artists for his unique and recognizable work.

This piece is all we have left for our May 31st closing reception and it will certainly SELL.  Entitled "Messy Elliot" this original gem is only $300....what Ethos would definitely deem, an "OG Steal".

Septerhed at Ethos "Little Things" Closing Reception Show May 31, 2013

This beautiful 6" x 6" mini art piece entitled "Snuggling Buddies" will be available at Ethos Gallery's reception this Friday night at 7 p.m.  The "Little Things" show which features miniature art to highlight the idea of remembering the little things in life, has been a huge success for Ethos; the main reason being these petite gems are extremely affordable.

The artist, Septerhed, was kind enough to get up outside in the Fame Yard with this not so little mural that has stolen the hearts of spectators.  We are proud to work with such a talented artist...he brings a unique blend of color, light and positive energy to our corner of the block.

SNYDER GETS UP IN FAME YARD WITH NEW MURAL

Snyder paints a mural in the Sportie LA Fame Yard to support a message about children's health.  Hint Water products which contain NO SUGAR have recently started a street art initiative for their popular slogan "Drink Water Not Sugar".  The company wishes to generate awareness about the high sugar content in both sodas and juices marketed to kids.  They are taking a stand against childhood obesity and diabetes which has reached epidemic proportions in the U.S.

The mural, which depicts a child pulling the curtain back on the various popular, colorful, sugar-filled drink containers, reveals that behind the packaging veil there exists nothing but piles of sugar.  Snyder allowed this young visitor to help out, which opened up a conversation with the boy and his mother about the dangers of a high sugar diet for kids.

The Fame Yard has dedicated this wall to Hint Water for a period of time to support their message.  Hint water continues to support street artists and the community with their health conscious products.

Sacred Geometry hits the streets

Design team Love Magnificent brought in this stencil as they get ready for the first ever Sacred Geometry street art initiative to hit the city.  The stencil, the geometric pattern for "LOVE" is the first in a series of 100 hologram shapes available at their upcoming art show at Ethos Gallery June 8, 2013.

The LOVE stencil was designed by Love Magnificent but originated in Bali.  The shape was "channeled" by Astrea Sri Ana, the artist of origin for this groundbreaking art exhibition.

Using chalk paint so the team neither vandalizes nor harms the environment, the street team plans to hit locations all around LA to spread their message of LOVE and UNITY.  The show, cleverly titled "Blueprints for the New Human" will educate Los Angeles about the holograms and the power they have to shift consciousness to a positive direction.

We found this LOVE hologram cuddled up to a "cocaine" stencil on Melrose behind the Jarritos Pop Up Gallery.  We guess its as good a spot as any.

Annie Preece Earns Resident Spot in Fame Yard

Annie Preece's latest addition to the Fame Yard is attracting a lot of attention.  In our opinion, one of her best murals to date, Preece has earned herself a home in the Sportie LA/Ethos Gallery yard which continues to be the most sought after and photographed area for street art in Los Angeles.

It's no wonder she has so many fans.  We "Love, Annie."

Plastic Jesus is preparing for his first ever solo show at the Jarritos Pop Up Gallery on May 30th.  Offering his unique perspective on current events in both originals and prints, this first time look at his entire body of work should not be missed.

The Jarritos Pop Up Gallery is located at 7020 Melrose Avenue, LA CA 90036

About the Artist:

Plastic Jesus is a Los Angeles based street artist that specialises in bold stencil and installation work, inspired by world news events, society, the urban environment, culture, politics, and the amazing creativity of fellow artists.
His work combines humour, criticism and  unique opinion to create art that engages on many levels.
In early 2013 one of his pieces “No more heroes” featuring disgraced cyclist Lance Armstrong connect to an IV drip caught the world’s attention and was featured by many media organisations including CNN, the BBC, The Daily Mail, Huffington post and LA Weekly.
The Huffington Post listed two works by Plastic Jesus in the end of year round up of “The Best of Los Angeles Street art 2012”
He has been described by the leading Los Angeles street art blog ‘Melrose and fairfax’ as “The Banksy of LA”
Plastic Jesus is not about revolution, he is not an anarchist or anti-establishment. His work is more about shining a small light into some of those dark corners of society then standing back and watching reactions and opinions.

Ethos Gallery presents Sacred Geometry by Astrea Sri Ana

Join us June 8, 2013 and experience "BLUEPRINTS FOR THE NEW HUMAN" presented by Love Magnificent and Ethos Gallery.  Works presented include never before seen Sacred Geometry by Astrea Sri Ana of Ubud, Bali.

About the work:

The Universe has many tools for creation. The sound current - the Ohm of creation - is a powerful one we are all familiar with. Sacred Geometry is another - with the Flower of Life at the very core of our consciousness – and sound and geometry work hand in hand. What you might not realize is that Sacred Geometry is a vast & ongoing tool and science of creation. Astrea Sri Ana has been anchoring sacred geometric holograms for more than a decade. Astrea explains, “as I sit down to be given a hologram I start to sing – and am given the mantra, and write that down first of all – for all geometry is the physical representation of the sound. The world was created with sound – sound is geometry – all form is geometry. As I look out at the world I see the electro-magnetic field and all energies as geometry.”

Ethos Gallery will be exhibiting the Blueprints for the New Human, a set of 100 holograms Astrea Sri Ana channeled to help each person in their personal healing, transformation & ascension process. Each beautifully woven hologram heals and energizes when gazed upon by the viewer.  Each hologram represents a different healing property.  Whether you wish to attract love, prosperity, peace, or heal karmic wounds from the past, there exists a hologram to re-pattern your DNA to awaken the God within you.
